History

The temple is three stories high and has a red sandstone structure. Dedicated to the fifth Tirthankara, Sumatinath, and commissioned by the wealthy Jain merchant Bhandasa Oswal. Located on the ground floor of a Jain temple, Bhandasar has a breathtaking miniature of the gods. Visitors can climb up to the 3rd floor for stunning views of the city's surroundings. It is said that 40,000 kilograms of ghee were used instead of water and mortar to build this temple. Colorful Yellowstone paintings and sculptures make the interior look gorgeous. Flower-shaped arabesques decorate the pillars. There are interesting illustrations showing the lives of 24 Jain Tirthankara. Bhandasar Temple is not only a sacred place but also one of the most popular tourist attractions in Bikaner. It is visited by a large number of devotees and tourists to enjoy the tranquility and admire the stunning architecture.
