History

Amar Mahal Palace is an architectural jewel on the national highway to Srinagar. The beautiful red sandstone palace is built like a French castle on a hill overlooking the Tawi River, in the middle of Jammu's most beautiful horizon. The palace, once the residence of Raja Amar Singh, has been converted into a museum and managed by the Hari tara Charitable Trust. The museum owns the golden throne where Maharaja once sat. It is made of 120 kg of pure gold. The museum has a photo gallery and library with approximately 25,000 books on various subjects and disciplines.
