History

Ranakpur is a village in Desuri Tehsil near the city of Sadri, Bali District, Rajasthan, Western India. It lies between Jodhpur and Udaipur. It is 162 kilometers from Jodhpur and 91 kilometers from Udaipur, in the valley on the west side of the Aravali Mountains. The closest train stations to Ranakpur are Falna and Rani stations. Ranakpur is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Bali in Rajasthan. Ranakpur is easily accessible by car from Udaipur. Ranakpur is famous for its marble Jain temples and is considered the most spectacular Jain temple. There is also a small sun temple managed by the Udaipur Royal Trust.

Another suggestive attraction of the place is the temple of Muchhal Mahavir, which is dedicated to Hindu Lord Shiva. It is located 5 km from Ghanerao, in the Kumbhalgarh sanctuary. The city of Narlai, located at a distance of 6 km from Ranakpur, is also known by the Hindu temples. The architecture of the temples and murals within the temple are appreciable. Another suggestive attraction of the region is the historic site, called Kumbhalgarh. The Mewar Fortress located in this place is high, which extends through an extensive green area. The fort has become a museum and is open to the general public.
