Mandawa is a remote feudal principality located in the center of the Shekawati region. It was a trading post for ancient caravans passing through China and the Middle East. Thakur Nawal Singh, Rajput ruler of Nawalgarh and Mandawa, built a fort in 1755 to protect this outpost. The municipality that grew up around the fort soon attracted a large number of merchants to settle here. Mandawa was a trading post on the ancient caravan route, stopping here from China and the Middle East.
