History

Located in the historical Dhundhar area of ​​Rajasthan its existence dates back to the 10th century. Dausa has privileged to become the First capital of the then Dundhar Region. Dausa was an important political place for Dundhar region. As Dausa city is surrounded by Mahadev in five directions (Nilkanth, Gupteshwer, Sahajnath, Somnath and Baijnath), so it was named from Sanskrit word "Dhau and Sa".

Dausa has given prominent freedom fighters to the nation. Late Shri Tikaram Paliwal & Late Shri Ram Karan Joshi were amongst the freedom fighters who gave their valuable contribution to the fight for independence and for the amalgamation of the Princely States to form Rajasthan State.

Facts & Culture

Dausa with its vibrant colors stands out in the desert state of Rajasthan. The magnificent old buildings and structures of the city attract many travelers. Some of the famous places to see in and around Dausa are Chand Baori originally named Abhaneri. The place also hosts the Abhaneri festival for two days each year. Harshat Mata temple is also among the visited places for its architecture. Jhajhirampura, Bhandarej, and Mehendipur Balaji are some other famous places to visit in Dausa.
