History

Almost 2000 years ago, Sonmarg was under the kingdom of PravaraaSena. Sonmarg's altitude is 2800 meters or 9200 feet. From here you can see some famous Himalayan glaciers such as the Kloy Glacier and the Manjoy Glacier. From here, you can see Sirbal Peak, Kolhoi Peak, Amarnath Peak, and Manchoi Peak at over 5000 meters above sea level. Sonmarg is located on the banks of the Nallah Sind River. It is located 87 kilometers northeast of Srinagar, the capital of the Indian Federal Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. People from all over the world come to this place to have the best natural essence. The Jhelum River dominates the area. The valley is 60 miles long and surrounded by grassy meadows and dotted villages. You can hire a pony to go to the Tajivas Glacier. Thajiwas Glacier is 9,186 feet above sea level and is a major tourist attraction. Sonamarg is a striking silver scene, contrasted with emerald grass and blue sky, and has always been a favorite spot in the mountain photographer community. Some of the most famous hiking trails start from Sonmarg alongside the spectacular views of the mountain lakes of Kishansar, Gadsar, Satsar, Vishansar, and Gangabal. It is also the basis for the performance of the holy Amarnath Yatra.
